Peter Brock/P Brock, Holden L34 Torana Bathurst 3rd Place 1976
Despite significant financial concerns, Peter Brock still managed to have a car prepared for the 1976 Bathurst 1000 under the Team Brock banner, co-driving with his brother Phil ‘Split Pin’ Brock. Brock started 2nd on the grid with Moffat in Pole Position but by lap 34, Team Brock was in trouble. The L34 had an issue with the fuel pickup system not delivering the last 35 litres of fuel. Peter was forced to coast into the pits, losing two laps in the process. Following another lengthy pit stop after breaking an axle, all hope of winning the race seemed gone, but Team Brock did not give up. Back on the track, the L34 Torana was flying and was easily the fastest car on the circuit, closing on the race leaders lap after lap. But, despite this courageous performance, Team Brock ended the race in 3rd place behind Bond Harvey in 2nd and Morris Fitzpatrick in 1st.
